Game 64 - Week 8

Great week for Paris St, Germain - they won 2-1 away at champions Dnipro to move right into contention in the Euro League.  Early goals from Costa and Otamendi put Richard Ladd's team in control, and despite Corluka pulling one back quarter of an hour from the end, the points ended up in Paris.  PSG are now only a point behind the leaders, after Juventus also lost - 2-0 at Benfica - whilst Bayern could only draw - 0-0 at NY Red Bull.  The title race is once again as open as you'd expect in game 64, three points separate the top six.  FC Basle, who came so close last season, are as far down as 8th now after a 1-0 loss at Stromsgodset but they, along with the team that beat them, are only five points from the top and also definitely not out of the running.  Milan are up into sixth after a 1-0 win over Mini Mars, Red Bull fifth after that point at home to Bayern.  Down at the bottom, it was a great win for Benfica this week - that moves them out of the bottom three.  Antwerp also recorded a brilliant win, beating Lazio 2-0 at home.  Mini Mars are now bottom of the table, Antwerp one point above hem with Lazio dropping into the relegation zone just a point further up.  Benfica on 8 points are now just outside the bottom three.

Promotion from Serie B looks pretty likely already for both Real Madrid and Monaco - they're both unbeaten with 7 wins and a draw from their 8 games.  Both won 4-1 this turn, Monaco with the more impressive victory away at Stewart Megrath's LA Galaxy, Soldado bagging a hat-trick.

Wins for four of the top five in the British league, Cavani's goal enough for Doncaster to beat Man U 1-0, Bournemouth crushing Wolves 4-1, Villa winning 4-0 at home to Rangers and Man City beating West Ham 2-1 - the Hammers thus becoming the only one of the top five teams to lose and they drop to fifth as a result.  Doncaster still lead Bournemouth by a point.  Down at the bottom, two goals from Messi helped Arsenal to a 3-1 win at Chelsea which means they stay deep in trouble but have a three point gap to bottom club Rangers.  Chelsea are a place and a point above Arsenal, with Sheffield Wednesday just outside the drop zone following a 1-1 draw at Spurs.  Wolves and Tottenham are a point above the Owls.

Just like two seasons ago, Scarborough are rampant in division 1, Fulham becoming the 8th team to lose to Craig Rathey's side this season.  A Samuel Eto'o hat-trick saw Liverpool win 3-0 at Southampton to stay two points behind the leaders.  Kieran Hundal's Everton won 3-0 at home to Notts County and are four points behind.  The top two haven't played each other yet, so that might give Everton a chance to close the gap.

Super Cup semi finals took place this week, goals from Ronaldo and Ribery saw Bayern Munich beat PSG 2-1 whilst Doncaster beat Everton 3-1.

Game 64 - Week 7

Doncaster are the new leaders of the Premier League, despite only drawing 0-0 with Sheffield Wednesday this week at Hillsborough.  Sam Roberts' side move a point clear of Glen Pine's Bournemouth after they were beaten 2-1 at surprise challengers West Ham - Kirk Greenway's Hammers now level on points with Glen's team in third place.  A point at home to the league leaders is not a bad result, but Burton's Wednesday are in the bottom three - their situation actually worsened by good results for the teams around them.  Joe Hughes' Wolves climb into almost mid table after a 2-0 win against Steve Bennett's Arsenal who find themselves bottom of the league, Man United are a place higher after they beat David Newton's struggling Rangers 1-0.  Draws for Chelsea and Spurs see both of those just above the drop zone.

Champions Dnipro are the early leaders of the Euro league, bottom club Antwerp beaten 2-0 this week.  Mark Wheat's Juventus are the surprise package at the top, after years battling against relegation they are just a point behind the league leaders following a 3-1 win at Lazio.  Bayern Munich could only draw 1-1 at home to Milan and fall back. Again, it's going to be a thrilling relegation battle here, Mini Mars getting a good point at home to Basle but stay second bottom, two points ahead of Antwerp and level on points with Benfica who drew 0-0 at PSG.  Rich Coupland's Lazio are only just above the relegation zone after their loss at Juve.

Game 75 - Week 9

Nine games gone in the game 75 season, it's tight at the top of both leagues with every dropped point proving vital.  Craig Rathey's East Stirling are as yet unbeaten at the top of the Prem, seven wins and two draws for them so far - this week they won 2-0 at Cardiff.  Phil Cortes' Doncaster are second after a 3-0 victory at home to bottom of the table QPR.  Jamie Maycroft's Wolves are third after beating Liam Sturdy's Man City 2-0 at the Etihad, Bacca with both goals.

Barcelona had a 100% record in Serie A before this week, but now they don't.  Steve Bennett's Bayern now sit on top of the European League, unbeaten after eight wins and a draw, and they're just a point clear of Jamie Maycroft's Barcelona after they inflicted the first defeat of the season on the Spanish side.  Two goals from Ribery saw Bayern take the points, Suarez getting one back for Barca.  Those two and Mark Preston's PSG are going to battle it out for the title - the Paris side three points behind the leaders after an Ibrahimovic hat-trick saw them win 3-0 at Feyenoord.
